Ardent Sentry 2012: U.S. and Canada Conduct Major Military Exercise
On April 24, NORTHCOM announced Ardent Sentry 2012, billed as a “major exercise… focused on Defense Support of Civil Authorities.” It will be held on May 2 – 9, 2012, according to the U.S. Northern Command website.
Ardent Sentry will consist of command post and field training exercises that will be held in North Dakota, Oregon, Texas, Alaska, Connecticut and Nova Scotia. The exercises will include both United States and Canadian military units.
In Nova Scotia, Canada, U.S. and Canadian forces will cooperate jointly on a security related event.

Russia, U.S. to Hold Anti-terror Drills in May
Airborne troops from Russia and the United States would hold joint anti-terror drills in the U.S. state of Colorado between May 24 and 31, spokesman of the Russian Defense Ministry Col. Alexander Kucherenko said on Thursday.
According to the spokesman, it will be the first time that the Russian airborne forces have held exercises with the U.S. airborne forces on the U.S. territory.
"According to the exercise scenario, soldiers of the two countries will hold a tactical airborne operation, including the reconnaissance of imaginary terrorists' camp and a raid," Kucherenko said.

The Portland, OR Police Dept. is asking this week for authority to put surveillance cameras in downtown Portland. Seattle already has its own surveillance drone helicopter. And the Chicago police have 1500 surveillance cameras in the Windy City.
